actions i can take for ex-husband's outstanding credit card debts

My divorce decree states that my ex-husband is fully responsible for a credit card debt in both our names. The decree states that he will make the minimum payment every month and would have it paid by Dec. 2005. He has not made a payment since March 2004. The outstanding balance is $8,000. This is ruining my credit. What are my legal options? Is a lien a possibility since he is considering buying a home? If a lien is possible, will the lien cross state lines or would the lien need to be re-filed in a new state/country?

You need to file a petiton for contempt with the court. If you make any payments on the credit cards you can recover against your ex. Since the credit cards were joint, you are still liable for the debt to the credit card company

Definately file contempt. Then talk to a supervisor at the credit card company and at least tell them what's going on. They may require a copy of the divorce papers also.
