Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

Child Custody

My x's boyfriend made numerous threats the lastest was that he was going to kill me. luckily he sent it as a text and also called me on the phone. i live in a different state so i am not really worried except i am going to visit my daughter who i believe lives in his house. we have been on the fence about getting a lawyer to get custody. How much if any will this help my case and what should i do if he tries to attack me while i am visiting. we will not be at his house we will be at my x's parents house.

Re: Child Custody

I would highly recommend contacting the police nearest to this gentleman and informing them of any threats that have been made.

I think if you chose to pursue a custody battle, these threats would be quite relevant.

If he attempts to attack you or makes any threatening remarks, I would recommend contacting the police immediately. The intimidation and threats posed by this man should not interfere with your visitation. I would also recommend keeping a copy of the court order regarding custody and visitation with you at all times during your visit in case the police need to be brought in for any reason.
