Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

This is really important. I live in North Carolina and the age of consent is 16. My girlfriend is 16 and I'm 21, I got my girl friend pregnant. Her mother tried to force her into having an abortion until we told her it was illegal and now she's trying to put her into foster care. Her mother also will not allow me to go to any of the doctors appointment and also will not let her get emancipated and she is in school with a full time job. It is obvious that her mother is trying to manipulate her into having an abortion and if she doesn't she will put her in foster care. What can we do? This cannot be legal...

What is obvious is that her mother is trying to keep a 21 year old man away from her child. Shame, she didn't do a better job before her child got pregnant. 16 may be the age of consent but no 16 year old girl should have to deal with the prospect of being a mother. If she were 25 and you were 30 that would be one thing but if you don't see a major problem with having a sexual relationship being 5 years older than a 16 year old girl, then you are likely not mature enough yourself to handle this situation. Your best bet is to not push the issue and simply be available if you are asked for help with anything and / or input into the decision making process. Best of luck to you!
