Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

I married my wife while she was pregnant with our child. I find out that the child may not be mine. My wife and I are now in divorce proceedings and I have to pay a lot in child support. Can I do anything to fight this?

Hopefully, you have an attorney. You need to demand a paternity test as the law presumes that you are the father since you were married to the mother. If you can get proof of adultery through the child, it will also affect any alimony she can get.

Mr. Love is right on point! Get an attorney if you don't already have one and definitely request the paternity test ASAP. Almost every where else in the civilized world, if you were induced to marry your wife by a false claim of paternity i.e. 'its your baby' this would be a ground for annulment but not so in hillbilly North Carolina.
