Legal Question in Immigration Law in North Carolina

My parents have been happily married for 40 years. My retired military dad met my mom overseas in Thailand. My mom has never worked in the U.S. as long as we have lived here. Lord forbid anything happens, but if my dad were to pass away would she still be able to live/stay in the U.S.? I'm concerned because my parents are getting older.

It appears based on your fact pattern that your mother resides in the U.S. If so, determine her immigration status. If she's not a permanent resident (has a green card) or she's not a U.S. citizen, retain counsel to determine if she's eligible for either benefit. If she does not reside in the U.S., you may want to retain counsel to determine how she can obtain status in theU.S. so that her interests here might be better protected.
