Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina

my husband gave me a quit claim deed for property in north carolina. Now we are divorcing and he says it was simply a security deed, since he had borrowed sooo much money from me in the past and wanted more. When I said 'no', he gave me the deed as "security for future loans. now his lawyer says I never really owned this property????

If your husband has a lawyer, you need a lawyer.

I don't know what your question is, but regardless of what your husband's lawyer says, you have to go by what is in the deed records. If he gave you the property and it is yours as established by the deeds, then you can give it back and he can repay you what he borrowed or you can keep it. Of course, it will depend on the other assets that you have. You need a family lawyer to make sure that you get the alimony, support and equitable distribution to which you are entitled.
