Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in North Carolina

grandmothers will

my g-m passed away 8 months ago.I know there was money left to each grandchild; however, we have not been notified of a reading of the will. How long can they (her 2 sons) wait until the will is read and the money disbursed?

Re: grandmothers will

There is no "reading of the will" You can go to the Clerk's office in the County where she was domiciled and see if an estate file has been opened yet. If there is, you can see whether a will is in there (it would be in the file) or whether an intestate estate was opened (for people dying without a will).
