Legal Question in Technology Law in Ohio

Employee Rights - Refusal to Perform Illegal Activity

My boss has recently told me to take a software that was downloaded as free / open source software. He told me to take out the name of the software, etc and put our company information all over it.

I sent him an email asking if he knew it was illegal. His response was ''ya just do it it will be fine''.

I am not going to do this for multipe reasons. I want to know whether I am protected by the law in any way and if there are certain steps I have to perform to remain protected.

I would immediately report the request from your employer to the Software & Information Industry Association (http://www.siia.net/). There is information at that site to report piracy.

This is more of an employee rights question than a computer software question. Please direct your question to an employment law attorney.
