Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

Credit card debt due to disability

My husband applied for social security/disability 6 years ago. In the time it took for the application to be approved we fell behind on several bills. We recently received notice that a suit had been filed for the amount of the debt plus court costs in order to avoid the suit. We are now able to make reasonable monthly payments. What is the best way to communicate this to the company and their attorney?

Re: Credit card debt due to disability

Send the attorney a certified letter with your settlement proposal. If all he is getting is disability income, any judgment they might get will be hard to collect.
