what does it mean when ''case contiued for direct indictment'' mean

It means the case is going to be presented to the grand jury for possible indictment. The case is likely a felony filed via a complaint in a municipal court now. Municipal court has only very limited jurisdiction over felonies. Once an indictment is issued the case is then before the common pleas court.
