Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

legal question

I got a citation for expired dog tags. I was given the cost, which I could not pay at the time, but intended to. the court date rolled around, and it completely slipped my mind. They came and arrested me, I am out on $1000.00 bail. I showed up for court today, and they said I would have to come back because the dog warden was not there. when the judge read the charges, she read a minor misd. for dog tags but said nothing about the failure to appear. My question is what is the max. penalty for failure to appear for my first trial, and why weren't those charges read today in court?

Thanks so much for your help!

Re: legal question

Failing to appear on a summons is not a crime. You can be arrested and required to post bond, which has apparently already happened. Failing to appear again though could result in the bond being forfeited and you being arrested again.
