Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

I want to recant a police report that was made. The statement that was made was not a sworn or signed statement. And I didn't press charges. But the words I spoke to the investigator were not completely truthful and are being used against the person.

Can I get in trouble (I live in ohio)?

How much trouble?

Who do I tell I want to recant the statement the investigator took?

Without more information, it is difficult to say whether you can get in trouble in Ohio by correcting either untruthful or misleading statements you previously made to the Police. It sounds like you made a statement to the Police about another person and the Police have charged, or are considering charging, the other person with some criminal offense. If that other person has an attorney, I would start by contacting the attorney. Tell the attorney that you want to correct the information you previously gave to the police. The attorney may tell you that you have to hire your own attorney in order to make that happen. Any criminal defense attorney in your community should be able to help you, if that is what the other person's attorney wants you to do.
