Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

I am the defendant in a petition for divorce. The divorce action was filed in a county that I do not reside in. I have reason to believe that the plaintiff resides with someone who is in the employ of that county or brings cases to the domestic relations court be they involve chilren or adults. I don't know if an attorney I would hire knows of this person or has interactions with them on a professional or or friend basis. I don't know if this person knows the judge or the magistrate. seek any suggestions or advice. Would this be cause for moving case to another county?

In Ohio, the civil rules deal with the proper venue for cases. There are some specific rules for venue in divorce cases. Where the defendant lives is certainly one of the proper venues. But other considerations would be where any assets of the marriage are located. Once you hire an attorney you could voice these concerns to the attorney and ask him about switching venue to your county court. But you should keep in mind that if venue does get changed, it may be a good idea to change lawyers to someone local to your area.
