Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

paternity

A woman in West Virginia who bore a son to her husband in 1995 has asked my son (in Ohio) for a paternity test, saying he is the child's biological father. If my son does this test, will he be liable for 13 years of back child support? This woman has been on public assistance.

Re: paternity

It depends on the circumstances of the case. If the woman can show that the father either knew or should have known that the child was his, then the court may award back support. There is a lot of maoney at stake in these types of cases warranting a strong defense. I do these cases if you are interested, please feel free to contact me. Best regards, Edward DiCato
