Legal Question in Immigration Law in Ohio

Voluntary departure bond available for detained?

My friend was just taken by the police (or immigration agents?). He's being held in jail now. We (his close friends) are afraid that he'll have to sit in jail for a long time before he will be sent home. Is there a voluntary departure bond for those who have already been taken to holding for not leaving earlier? Part of the reason he didnt leave in time was because his incompetent lawyer didnt even tell him this new status change. There was no previous voluntary departure petition or whatever set that I know of, and his case was closed is why he was taken, not for committing any crimes. Anyway, or goal right now is to get him home safely without him having to sit in jail. If anyone has any advise I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

The Government does not want to unnecessarily detain illegals. If an honest mistake occurred, you should be able to appeal or resubmit your petition.
