copy right law

we purchases some images online for a web design, another co. is claiming the images were theirs, and they claim copyright infringement. the letter sent looked like they noticed the images about 9 months ago and just now sent a letter, im not sure of who this other co. is and the co. we bought the images from was about 2 years ago.

The first thing you should do is contact the company you purchased the images from and ask them for some kind of proof that they are allowed to sell these images. They probably have a license agreement, see if you can get it. Also, do you still have proof that you purchased the images (such as a receipt or something)?

How do you know they noticed the images 9 months ago? What does the letter say they want? Do they want you to stop using the images, or do they want you to pay them?
