Legal Question in Employment Law in Ohio

Is it illegal for my employer to terminate me without reason? I work weekends only when i showed up for my shift I was informed by my co worker to train a new employee...I did train the guy and when i showed up for work the next weekend my coworker said i was no longer allowed on premises! Tried calling to management got no direct answers just the run around i have yet to find out what happen?

Generally, yes. An employer can fire you (unless you have a contract, or are in a union with a collective bargaining agreement) for any reason or no reason at all, with or without notice. You can generally quit under the same conditions.

However, your employer cannot fire you if one of the reasons/factors for doing so is an illegal reason/factor in violation of the law, such as race, sex, religion, national origin, color discrimination in some cases. Also, your employer is generally not allowed to fire you for being older and you are over the age of 40. You need to talk to a lawyer to determine if any of these situations apply to you. I cannot give you advice about them without knowing your specific facts. You should contact a lawyer in your area.
