Termination of employment over the phone

My friend and I worked at a fast food restraunt. We heard we were going to be fired, and when the time came, it happend over the phone. A text message to be more exact. I was under the assumption that you could not be terminated over the phone. Is there any legal action that could be taken?

The law does not require any particular form of communication when terminating an employee. Therefore, terminating an employee by phone is legal.
