Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Ohio

My landlord is selling the building I live in. I've asked him my security will be transferring to the new owner and he won't answer me? Can I withhold a months rent until I get an answer?

In Ohio, it is a very bad idea to withhold rent from a landlord unless you are depositing it into an escrow account set up by your local clerk of courts office for failure to make repairs or otherwise comply with the lease agreement.

If the landlord does not give you your security deposit back at the end of the lease agreement, and won't make clear to you whether the original landlord or the new landlord has the deposit, then you should sue them both for the return of the deposit under R.C. 5321.16.
