Legal Question in Entertainment Law in Oklahoma

Sample contract for royalties for selling a life story to a publisher or writer.

How should a contract for book royalties (for a person who is the subject of a life story, not the author) for a life story be written? And what is a fair percentage of the royalties for the subject of the life story to receive?

Re: Sample contract for royalties for selling a life story to a publisher or wri

I have done these contracts including for Charlie Jones of NBC Sports. There is no set formula. Typically, the publisher makes the offer. I have been on both sides. There is no set percentage on royalites. Everything is subject to negotiation. I don't know of a single book that has the exact terms of another. I would have to see the proposed contract to evaluate the terms. If you have one, fax it to me at 219-255-0018 and I will look at it. I would be happy to look at it.
