Legal Question in Family Law in Oklahoma

Child Support Limits

What percentage of the father's income can be awarded to the child's mother (one child) for support, child day care, insurance, etc. in the state of Oklahoma? I volunteered to pay child support, but she wants about 80% of my gross income, I do need something to live on for myself. My income is approx. $16,000 per year.We were never married and never lived together.

Re: Child Support Limits

Child support is based on the gross income of both parents. After each parent's gross income(as defined by statute) is determined, a mathematical formula is applied to determine the "base child support". Base child support can also be affected by the number of overnight visitations exercised by the non-custodial parent. Health insurance cost, uninsured medical expenses and work related child care expenses are also divided between the parents based on their respective gross incomes. Some other factors can come into play when calculating these obligations. You will need to discuss your particular situation with your attorney to get an idea of your actual potential liability.
