Legal Question in Construction Law in Oregon

Leaking carport, contractor now uninsured

This past summer, my mom had a new roof put on her house and carport. The cost went over the original estimate by 40%. Now the carport roof leaks and the contractor let his insurance lapse, so he is no longer bonded or insured. Who is responsible for fixing the roof?

Re: Leaking carport, contractor now uninsured

There are several things to consider when examining the insurance liability of the contractor, among them, was he insured and bonded at the time the job was started, substantially completed, completed and when the problems were discovered. If you would like assistance in filing the claim against the contractor with the Construction Contractors Board in Salem, please do not hesitate to contact me for a free consultation at [email protected].
