Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Oregon

pleading to a law suit

We have been served for a circuit court suit. We do not agree with the amount of debt being claimed. We currently do not have an attorney but will have prior to the initial court date. How do we fill out Stevens-Ness form 501 to respond.

Re: pleading to a law suit

You are better served by getting the attorney now and having him or her draft the answer to the lawsuit.

Most attorneys will want to be involved in a suit before the trial date, the trial is the last portion of a much longer process. In fact, most cases never get to a trial, they are settled long before.

Many, if not most attorneys will not take a case just before a court appearance.
