Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

S 18 S 5503 SSA4 Disorderly Conduct Juvenile

My two sons whom I normally have nothing but great things to say about had a night of poor decision making. While staying over at a friends the first week of summer break. I will try to keep it short.

At 1:00am my husband and I were woken by our local police asking us to phone a police office two towns over. He had our two sons with our sons friend in our sons car and two dozen minus one egg. He has my son driving after 11 on a junior license and my sons confess that they had egged their friends neighbors house earlier in the night. When my husband and I go to pick up the car and the kids the officer tells us that due to the boys being honest and never being in trouble that he is giving them a break and going to charge them with what I have listed above. The office also put on the bottom of both tickets a note asking for the minimum. Do they need a lawyer? I am not sure what type charge this even is. There isn't a possibilty of them going to juvinile detenion right? Will it affect them applying to college? Does it go away once they are 18?

First, try contacting the arresting officer. He acts as the prosecutor before the DJ. See if he will agree to ARD. Its a program that allows that you sons do community service and keep out of trouble for 6 months. The charges are dropped.

The policeman should be familiar with the program.
