Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Pennsylvania

Gender Discrimination

I am a male working in a private correctional Facilty in delaware county. The Prison holds Male, Female, and Male Juveniles. According to delaware county rules. Female correctionals officers are allow to work with either Male, Female, Or Juvenile. According to Delaware county prison Guys are only allowed to work with Male inmates and Male Juveniles. When ask why are men not allow to work with females they address the issue of innopropate behavior between male workers and female inmates. Statistically over twenty percent of our female correctional officers are force to resign because of innopropate relationship with inmates per investigation. I know in other counties and prisons men and women are of equal oppertunites. I was inquiring about the discrimination of my work enviorment or is this practice protected under pennsylvania laws. Please alert me if this is not lawful.

Re: Gender Discrimination

Yes, both federal and state laws dictate that men and women are to be provided equal opportunity under the law without regard to gender or other characteristics. This situation sounds like it might run afoul of those laws.

Please feel free to contact either our Philadelphia or Bucks County office if you would like to discuss this matter further.
