Legal Question in DUI Law in Pennsylvania

DUI in PA with an ID license

A friend of mine was charged with a DUI in PA when traveling for work. He appeared in PA court and was fined and informed that his license would be suspended for 60 days. He is a resident of Idaho and wants to know if the suspension will be affective in Idaho too. Will ID DOT learn about the suspension from PennDot? Will ID DOT contact him? Does he physically need to hand his license over? That is what the judge in PA told him. Thanks for your help.

Re: DUI in PA with an ID license

Recently, or rather, on Monday I have one of these cases where the offense was committed here and the person was from another state. It goes by the state that issued the license. If Idaho does not provide for a license suspension for a first time DUI then he may be able to keep his license. If it was a Pennsylvania license, though, he will have to physically turn it over or send it in for the requisite period.
