Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

I have a 3 year old son that I have not seen. I am ashamed to say that though his mother and I were dating when she got pregnant I did not believe the baby was mine. I left her and got remarried. A family member recently ran into my ex and the boy and I was told he looks just like me. I now realize he is mine. Though I have never seen him or paid any support, I now want to be in his life (perhaps even fight for custody). I have not talked to his mom since he was a few months old. I know my name is not on the birth certificate since we were not married.

What steps do I need to take to enter the child's life now. If I go to her house can she keep me from seeing my son. I am not even certain as to where she lives now.

You certainly can file for custody rights and to confirm paternity, in the event she contests paternity. You will need to know where she lives in order to serve her with the paperwork. Otherwise, other alternatives for service will have to be taken.
