cohabitating children

IS there a law in PA that prohibits children of opposite sexes who are not siblings from sleeping in the same room?

Re: cohabitating children

You asked about children of opposite sexes sharing a room.

There is no law to that effect. There are regulations and rules enforceable by the Dept. of Public Welfare that would allow that agency to intervene if this situation were reported.

The agency would look at the relationship of the children and families, the age of the children, and other factors such as the ability of the children to have privacy and safety.

No one can give a firm answer without fully investigating the circumstances. But the fact that you are asking the question suggests that it is not entirely appropriate for the children given the age or relationship. The agency favors that even children of the same sex should have their own space. Some cultures do not agree with that and it is not enforced strictly, but that should guide you.

Perhaps the children should be consulted? But my gut instinct is that you already know the answer to the question.

Roger
