Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Joint Legal Custody and Child Support

Someone told me that if you get joint legal custody you no longer have to pay child support. Is this true? Also if this is true, but I want to continue paying support but different than what the court originally ordered, can I do this as well. I'm just trying to figure out my options...and someone told me that if you have joint custody you don't have to pay.

Re: Joint Legal Custody and Child Support

NO! First off Joint legal custody is the right to have a say in the major decisions affecting the child.

Second, the person who told you this is violating the law. Its call the unlicensed practice of law. Clearly this person does NOT know the law.

If you want valid legal advise you need to talk to a lawyer licensed to practice in Pennsylvania.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me, the initial consultation is free.
