Re: Marriage in Pennsylvania

You asked about a 17 year old female needing parental permission to marry a 39 year old male.

Seek counseling. I'm not going to address whether it's legal or not.

It is understandable that parties of that age difference could find each other attractive. But the 39 year old should be mature enough to understand that the relationship is wrong. If the 39 year old is not mature enough to know that the relationship is wrong then, well, that person doesn't need a legal counselor.

The best way to put this is that the female should look 15 or 20 years down the road and see if she likes what she sees. An elderly man and a woman in her prime. Even 10 years down the road, is the 50 year old man going to be happy with a 30 year old wife?

Seriously, speak with persons who you trust. The best bet is to speak to people who know both of you.

Regards,

Roger
