my sons father wants to terminate his parental rights, is there a way i can get this started.

Unless the child is to be adopted he can voluntarily terminate his parental rights.

To clarify a prior response, unless the child is being adopted by a step parent, or through a dependency matter (like DHS), the father cannot voluntarily terminate his parental rights. It is against public policy. Unfortunately, too many parents would give up their rights to avoid support obligations, if this was allowed.
