what does it mean expunging your criminal case and if it needs some time? what's going to happen when you have a 2nd degree gang assault, when you are on probation and IRS catch you? will they deport you or is there any other chance for release?

It's not IRS, but ICE who places a hold on a foreign individual when he is detained by the police or State law enforcement, and when his probation is revoked.

Yes, a person is going to be transferred into ICE custody and is going to face deportation (after the Immigration Judge orders it). Whether one can avoid deportation or not (has any defense), you need to discuss your situation with a qualified immigration attorney.
