Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania

I was fired from my job because a trusted friend of my boss told him he saw my name in paperwork that named me as a drug dealer. I was also told I cannot get the paperwork because the person that told him "was not supposed to have access" to the information. I have done no such thing and don't know where to turn. What should I do about this?

Before I respond to your inquiry, I must state that we have not spoken, I have not reviewed the relevant documents and facts, and I do not represent you. Therefore, my discussion below is not a legal opinion, but is informational only. Finally, my discussion applies only to issues to which Pennsylvania or Federal law apply, unless otherwise specified.

That being said, unless you have a contract or are a part of a CBA, then employment in Pennsylvania is considered at-will this means that your employer can terminated your employment for any reason or no reason at all. This means that you can be fired for something that is said about you that is not true or even an improper investigation into those allegations by your employer. However, this does not mean you may not have a claim for defamation against the trusted friend. I would suggest speaking with a personal injury attorney about this matter.

If you would like to discuss this matter further, please feel free to contact me at the below address(es) or number.
