Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania

Independent contractors and compensation

I work for a company that sends my paycheck through the mail every two weeks on a Friday. I receive it by that Tuesday. August 27, 1999 I was supposed to have been sent a check. I never received it and called and told them. They blew me off until September 9, 1999 when the owner said she sent out another one. Four days later I received my next paycheck dated Sept. 10 but never received the other one. Is there a law governing the amount of time they have to get paychecks to their independent contractors? It has been 24 days, and I now have quit.

The PA wage Collection Act allows you to sue for the wages and if you win, the employer must pay your attorney's fees and costs. Talk to a local lawyer. The threat of fees may shake the funds loose.
