Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania

My Landlord added my ex to my lease without my permission!

I have recently signed a lease on a

new apartment on April 15th in PA in

MY NAME ONLY. (And I have a copy

of this) I proceeded to start moving

in and settling in. During this time

my ex-girlfriend helped with the

move and some decorating. At no

time did I discuss or mention with

either my landlord or my ex-girlfriend

that she was going to live there.

Well last week 4/26/07 my landlord

shows up at my apartment to give

me a new copy of my lease that has

my ex-girlfriends name and

signature signature on it! I

immediatley complained. The

landlord said that my ex-grilfreind

came to him and said she was going

to live there with me and she

wanted her name on the lease. So

he pulled his original copy with only

my signature and just added her

name to it and had her sign it with

out my written or verbal permission.

I complained some more, but my

landlord said there was nothing he

could do since his orginal lease now

has both signatures on it. What can

I leagally do to get her off my lease

and out of my apartment.

Re: My Landlord added my ex to my lease without my permission!

Assuming you got a copy of the lease from the landlord after you signed it but before your ex signed it show it to him and tell him that you expect that this is the lease that are going to go by.

He can no more add a name to the lease without your consent than he could increase the rent or change any other term in the lease.
