Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania

i recently got an apartment quite a bit away from home.with my roommate from college well we agreed to split everything and that she would make sure i got to school and work well now that i dont have transportation to and from school how do i get out of the lease? please help!

Basically, if you signed a lease, you are stuck with the lease provisions. Did your roomate sign the lease? Do you have a separate written agreement with your roomate whereby he would be responsible for half the rent. If your answer to these questons is no, you have problem.

If you want out of the lease, I suggest you speak to your landlord, and very politely, explain the situation and see if he is willing to help you out. If you just leave, you will be responsible for paying the amount of rent due under the lease term, less any rent the landlord receives if he is able to re-rent the apartment during the lease term. You'll also probably lose your security deposit, and may end up with a judgment, which will ruin your credit for years.
