Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania

We had a year(2008) lease (PA) & it expired 2009. From then on nothing was renewed or signed. We moved because of some safety issues and non repair. A few months before we moved we were handed a blank & unsigned lease & told it was changed month to month. We left landlord know a day or two before moving. Did we have a valid lease (new unsigned one) and what's right?

A ease is nothing more than a contract. Contacts terms can like paying rent can be enforced by the courts. That said for a contract to be enforceable it must be signed by the party to be charged. Who is that? The party they want to hold to the contract terms Since you didn't sign it the contract is unenforceable. That is they can't ask the court to make you live up to your duties under the contract.,So what ever he handed you is nothing. Now he maybe able to enforce the original lease but that would depend on what the first lease said.,
