Yes a township can be sued and can be liable for injuries that occurred on property over which they had control. There are many issues involved icluding the issue of soverign immunity which relates to those instances when a governmental unit can be sued. Time in which to bring suit and the proper notice reuired are also important issues. If you would like to discuss the issue with my office do not hesitate to contact me.

Re: personal injury

The township can absolutely be sued if the bike path contained a defect which caused an injury. Feel free to email or call directly for a free consultation.

Re: personal injury

You can sue anybody for anything. The more important question is whether you can win. Municipalities are immune from many types of suits. What did they do that you think should make them liable? (Your answer may determine whether the municipality is immune or whether your facts fit within one of the exceptions to immunity). If you send me an email w/ your reply, I can reply to your reply.
