Legal Question in Traffic Law in Pennsylvania

minor prohibited/operatingw/alcohol

my 19 yr old son was charged with this and paid $197.00 fine. Today he received a letter saying his drivers license would be suspended for 3 months. This is a hardship since he is a college studeent and needs to get to school, which is 2 hours away and has to work to pay for school.

Re: minor prohibited/operatingw/alcohol

You asked about driving after a license suspension.

First off, he must understand that there is NO driving during the suspension. Doing so may become a criminal violation and would subject him to more severe penalties in the courts and would increase the length of the suspension.

He can appeal to motor vehicles for permit for work and school. Depending on the circumstances he may be allowed a permit for those purposes only.

He should hire a lawyer to prepare and argue the appeal. The probability of a successful appeal gaining a permit increase when there is a skilled practitioner presenting the matter.

Regards,

Roger
