Legal Name Change

My 25 year old grandaughter is trying to find our how to legally change her last name. She is a resident of this state. If you can provide me with any information or direct me to a proper source, we would appreciate it.

Thank you,

Re: Legal Name Change

Pa Rules of Civil Procrdure require the filing of a petition stating the reasons for the name change and averring that the change is not to defraud creditors. Notice of the hearing on the petition must be published, usually in two newspapers before the hearing occurs. Proof of publication is required at the hearing. If no one shows up at the hearing and objects to the change, the court will in all liklihood approve the change.
