Should Rent Be Paid

My wife's parents both died in 2002, her brother is still living in the house that was left equally 3 ways to her, her sister and her brother. He has been living in the house since their deaths in July 2002, shouldn't he be paying her & her sister rent for staying in the house?

Re: Should Rent Be Paid

The house is owned 1/3 each by your wife an dher two other siblings. You did nto tell me whterh the house is titled as joint tenants with right of survivorship or as tenants in common or whether the brother has a life estate to remain in the house for his life.

Yes, the brother does not own 2/3 of the house. Whether he pays rent is a decision up to your wife an dher sister.
