Legal Question in Workers Comp in Pennsylvania

Abuse of the system?

My husband, who works and lives in PA, worked for a high-profile actor and his company located in CA. Three months ago he was attacked on one of the job sites by two teenagers. He did not call 911 til the next day when the kids returned to the site and did not seek medical treatment for two days and was not treated due to lack of having comp numbers. He reported the incident right away. They fired him the day after he filed comp paperwork. They are fighting comp and we have a lawyer, but we get no money. How long can this possibly take? Are they abusing the system because they are rich and they can?

Re: Abuse of the system?

You did not indicate if the claim was pending in PA or CA. If PA, the litigation can last a year or longer, depending on the county and the WC Judge. I don't know naything about the system in California. In PA, the WC carrier will often try to settle the case for less then its true value, after "starving" you out for several months. In PA, the system is definitely tilted in favor of the employer.
