You can fire your current lawyer and hire a new one any time you want. However, why accept a settlement? If you're getting a work comp check regularly now, maybe you're better off continuing to receive that regular check. Remember, nobody ever gets rich from work comp--it only pays for your wage loss and medical bills, but not pain and suffering.
