is it true that there is a new law about probationary status of an employee in the Philippines which extend the period of employment from 6 months to 1 year contract?

The probationary period can be found in Article 281 of the Labor Code. However, it can be longer than 6 months if the nature of the job requires more than 6 months to determine the competence or fitness of the probationary employee.The probationary employment is the period where an employer observes the fitness of the probationary employee for regular employment.
