Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

Destruction of Hotel Room Property

Because of a reaction to medicine that i am taking, I destroyed hotel furniture by throwing it out the window at a work function. I was arrested and went to jail compliantly. I do not remember anything. The hotel says the cost of damages was over $4000.00 (which some have admitted was inflated). So my charge went from a misdimeanor to a felony. What does my case look like and where do I go from here? I have a note from my Current Doctor stating that this was due to a reaction to the medicine. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. I lost my job as a result. I Paid for all of the hotels damages within weeks. I am still not employed.. it has been 6 months. Any thoughts? I have retained a lawyer in the state where the crime was committed.

Re: Destruction of Hotel Room Property

Hello:

I read your question. What state is the charge being brought? If Fla., There are a couple of factors that will determine what the State Atty. will offer you to plead to. Basically, if you don't have a prior record, that will be a huge factor. The State always wants restitution in these types of cases, so if the damage is paid for, they'll be happy.

If you need any further assistance and if the case is in North Fla., please give us a call. Good luck. Tom Rosenblum
