Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

Notified of Charges

How would a person be notified that they have been charged with a crime? Do you have to be formally charged with a crime in order to be indicted for that crime?

Re: Notified of Charges

A person can be served with a warrant or indicted. A person must be served with both before they can be convicted. But they do not need to be "formally charged" prior to an indictment. Hope this helps. Call or write if you have any other questions.
