Re: Sex

Far be it from me to disagree with an attorney from the home state, but it appears that legally, 16 is the age of consent for a minor to have sex with an adult. Minor's can consent to have sex with each other when both are under 17 and older than 14.

To be on the safe side, you should call a lawyer or check with Planned Parenthood.

You should also consider the actions you are taking and the results of same.

Are you old enough and financially secure enough to care for a child if that should be the result of the sex?

If you do not become married to your girlfriend are you ready to give her up to 17% of your income until you reach 41?

Is she ready to rear a child, being that she is just a child herself? How would she go to school or support herself and the baby if for some reason you are no longer there?

I could go on with questions like this forever. Unless you can answer them satisfactorially, you both are not really ready for the consequences of Sex. Moreover, the act will change the nature of your relationship. Your relationship may not be able to withstand that.

You should both speak to a strong adult role model (priest, Teacher, school counselor, even a lawyer can be helpful) about your impending decision no matter what the age of consent is in South Carolina.

Act wisely son, and good luck.
