Generally, it is best to have a Court Order that spells out custody, visitation, and child support for both parents. This way, the custodial parent cannot decide on her own to deny visitation to the non-custodial parent. If the custodial parent violates the Order by denying or unilaterally altering the visitation, the non-custodial parent can ask the Court to punish the other parent and force her to follow the Order.

Further, child support and visitation are not legally connected. One parent cannot deny visitation to the other because child support is not being paid. Similarly, if visitation is denied it does not mean the other parent can stop paying child support. For these reasons, and those given above, see an attorney and have your rights established by Court Order.
