If you went to the emergency room for drug overdose do they have to tell the prescribing doctor of the drug you took or the situation involving the visit to the emergency room?

I do not know of any state statute requiring this be reported, but I am not a South Carolina attorney. Normally the hospital must respect your wishes with regard to whom they notify, and you have certain rights under HIPAA that you should be aware of. If you want this information kept private and secret make the request in writing to the facility.
