Sometimes, if you do your homework on the goods you wish to import. The big problem with China is that very often the materials imported from there infringe on a US patent or trademark, which subjects the importer to a lot of unforeseen and expensive legal hassles. However, if you check the goods carefully against existing patents and trademarks and get an opinion letter from an attorney who practices in patent and trademark stating that the likelihood of infringement is small to none, then you should be ok.
